Brain Dump

1. I hate flying. With every ounce of my being-do I hate flying. BUT it gets me to our family. Anyone who has traveled with me by plane knows that I am not the happiest person in the plane, or on the way to the airport, or going through security… But I have my reasons.  It may all stem from when I was 11 flying to Georgia with my mom and Nani.  Our plane was hit by lightning and we D.R.O.P.P.E.D. Like out of the sky dropped, stomach is in your brain dropped and me screaming for all to hear, ” WE ARE GOING TO DIE!”.  Not my proudest moment.  As soon as the word, “Die” came out of my mouth the lights flickered and we started to regain power and much needed altitude.  I buried my face with tears into my mom’s shirt. I said what we all thought.

We landed and found out Flight TW800 had crashed after going through the same storm we did.  We were fortunate, where others weren’t. Hence the fear of flying. OH and since this is a brain dump, one time on the little puddle jump plane that flies from Tucson to Phoenix(you know the one’s with the little propellers) we were landing in PHO and as we were preparing for the wheels to touch the tarmac the Pilot jerks the nose back up.  Apparently a plane in front of us was unable to vacate the runway and we were set to collide with them.  I LOVE roller coasters, just not planes.

2.  HOA meetings.  Home Owners Associations. Pure JOY.  Not kidding one bit.  Want to see a bunch of people that want power so bad they will literally tag each other’s signs when running for election, send out fake HOA director’s notes to residents, illegal campaigning and then at the meeting claiming they have no idea who would do such a thing as they vehemently stare into their competitor’s eyes.  The air in the room was palpable.  I had Gabe and Dirk stay in the lobby as I witnessed some of the juiciest drama.  There were threats of lawsuits, calls to lawyers, re-votes and snide remarks under their breath… to say that I will now be attending these meetings for the pure fun of it is quite true, although I will also be making sure that our rates are not going to be hiked up because of some frivolous lawsuit from begrudged neighbors.

3.  The Bachelorette.  A Monday night tradition.  Gabe let me know that even though Dirk and I will be in WA on Monday that he will still be watching… you know so we can discuss our favorites : ).  I thought I had clear leaders but now after this last commercial… one looks to be a villain.  Crap.  Gabe and I both think that there has to be some better guys out there for EMILY than this whole lot.  Sure there are some maybes…. and possibly “the one”… but she is freaking amazing.  The Producer who hired the people to find these guys should be fired. STAT.

4.  Gabe has gray hair.  I found four just glancing at him in the sun this weekend.  He blames me.  BUT- he only had gray beard hair until baby boy arrived : ).  I thought for sure I would be the first to gray because I am the classic worry wort, alas, Gabe takes home the trophy for first place.  I thought I saw one in the mirror the other day but it’s just a piece that has been bleached in the sun and is now blond.  I’m actually not worried about getting gray hairs, it means I’ve lived… and hopefully that I am getting wiser(one can hope, right?).  I have smile lines by my mouth and thank my lucky stars that my life has been happy enough to have smiled that much.

That is all that’s swirling around in my old head. Thanks for sticking around til the end. <3

Happy Memorial Day!
Counting myself lucky that I get a three-day-weekend with my little family.  Thankful that my Brother & Dirk’s Uncle is home this year to spend the weekend with my Sister and their cute puppy Kruiser.  Thanks Uncle Bill for all that you do! Wish we were close enough to give you a big bear hug! Hope you all are having a wonderful Memorial Day!
