The Little Things- Like Water on a Window

My heart is full. <3

Before & After

The Plated Glass was a doomsday device for poor little Dirk.  It was only a matter of time before he punched a hole through and bled out- seriously- that was what I was envisioning.  So my Mom suggested to remove the doors.  GENIUS idea! So the before picture is when we had literally just moved in to the house.  And the after is now filled with my treasures- painted glass baby food jars, Clive Cussler Books(where Dirk got his name), cake stands, and the frame wreath for our front door.  Not too shabby if I do say myself. : )

Holy Heck Batman

What the crap???

So we just got our insurance bill from United Healthcare-worst insurance company by far- from taking Dirk to the emergency room when he was going into anaphylatic shock-so definitely a necessary trip- since it wasn’t preventative(it prevented the death of our son)- we owe the entirety of the bill.

THE WHOLE KITTEN-KABOODABLE!!!

My husband works for a large firm. A LARGE ONE. One that I am sure all of you have seen in commercials for Retirement-Stocks-Trades- and yet they only offer this crap despicable lousy not enough time to write how awful insurance.

SO.

I am going to go sit and cry for a bit.  And hope to God that none of us get sick in the near future.  Because people, we just can’t afford to get sick.

DIY Cake Stands

DIY Cake Stand:

List:
-Super Glue
-Ice Cream Glasses
-Plates
-High Gloss Spray Paint

Goodwill was doing one of their half-off store events which are shall we say interesting.  The AC doesn’t work very well and when you add more people there than technically should be accommodated- there is a 15 minute rule that I enforce.  Either you go in looking for one specific thing- or you browse fast for a running list of things.  The Running List currently: ties, children books, real wood chairs, wood framed mirrors, silver tray, Clive Cussler books, watermelon place mats, place mats in general, table runner, cake stand ware.

So with that in mind, Gabe and I speed walked through the sections- grabbed a designer tie for $1.50(has to look brand new-or we won’t buy it), large solid oak bowl for $2, two thick ice cream glasses for 45cents each, and two plates for 50 cents each.  I made sure that the plates had some unique physical embellishments on them that would show-up when spray painted.  We then went to Hobby Lobby with our 40% off coupon and got a can of white spray paint.

Step 1: Super Glue and place heavy books/objects on them.  I left them for two hours.
Step 2: Spray paint two thin, equal layers about 30 minutes apart.  I sprayed a large portion of our grass…. there was a breeze : ).
Step 3: Let dry, inside, over night & TADA- beautiful finished product!

I LOVE them and can’t wait to use them for Dirk’s 1st Birthday party!!!
