What is Mulling Around in this old Mom Brain?

  • I just checked my oil… and all of my fluids. Thank you Mr. Sptitzer for teaching me about car engines. And all the boys laughed when I walked in the class. Who got the only A? Yep, now who’s laughing? : )
  • The temperatures were cool yesterday! A balmy 80 degrees so I had all the windows open and the AC off.  Felt great- now Fall… please get a move on….. the 70s feel much nicer!
  • There was actually a mom at the park today!  Well, a Nanny, BUT she had a baby boy that was just two weeks younger than Dirk and they laughed, waved and “chatted” as they swung in the swings. Such an adorable little boy too- love that the mom was so easy to talk to- some moms are just glued to their Iphones and don’t even look up to say “hi”- it is hard to make mom friends.
  • Yesterday I got all dressed up- which means jeans and a nice shirt with boots(what was I thinking it is 80 degrees out), carried the little man into the store, did not put him into the shopping cart and then proceeded to grab two batches of flowers and check-out.  Will never, ever, ever go to the store, even just for a second without putting the 30lb ton in a cart.  I literally sweat through my “outfit” and was quite literally a hot mess.
  • On 9/11 my mother has always made a point to go get flowers and bring them to her local firefighters and give them all hugs.  Such a wonderful tradition! Yesterday I wrote two thank you notes and headed to the store- see “hot mess” story above- and was delighted to see that our local Police Officer that we have spoken to several times-lovely man- was doing his paperwork in the parking lot as usual.  I was able to drop off one set of flowers and made my way to the back of the parking lot with Dirk, the flowers, and card.  I’m sure it was a pretty funny picture but I was able to thank him for his service and let him know how much we care about the police officers in our community.  And as I was leaving the parking lot our local firefighters that are a block away from our house were called out so Dirk and I headed home until Gabe got back from work.  Then we all went to the Firefighters station and gave hugs to every one at the station, told them how much it meant to us and they even gave Dirk hugs, a helmet and a tour of the fire truck- lights flashing and all.  I hope they all know how grateful we are that they are in our community.
  • As soon as the little man gets up from his nap we are headed off to the zoo!  Going to hit the farm and then splash pad.  The temp is only supposed to be 93 today- LOVELY! : )
  • I made a kick-@@@ BBQ chicken sandwich with garlic mashed potatoes…. YUM.  Feel so accomplished when we go for walks, play in the park, I get all the cleaning done during nap time, and make a large  delicious dinner.  Especially when there are leftovers.  Who doesn’t love leftovers? Hello??? Lunch!
  • Can’t wait to take Dirk to the local farm and pumpkin patch this year- there are so many great activities for little ones!  Glad that Gabe and I scoped it out last year right before I went on mandatory bed rest.
