11 Months Old

Finally figured out how to upload pictures without crashing our old computer….

11 Months Old

Gone Hunting

Saturday morning- bright and early(not as early as I had hoped)- the three of us hit the road in our trusty Prius aka Green Lantern.  Dirk thought it would be lovely to see us at 4AM, 5AM and then 7:30AM- so his usual 6:30AM early-bird special was ruined and we were off and running at eight.

Friday night was spent watching James Bond in Casino Royale and hunting for community garage sales on Craigslist(I seriously cannot escape Craig).  I nailed down four locations and we set-off on our annual hunt for other people’s junk-turned treasure for us.

Our haul was amazing!!!  It did end up with me holding onto large pieces of furniture as it balanced precariously out the side window-BUT- we made it!

  1. Large child play tunnel(twice the size of Ikea ones-I fit) $1
  2. Two wooden spoons-I oiled those bad boys up after cleaning them and they look marvelous! $1
  3. 5 Vintage Books 25 cents total
  4. Dresser and Changing Table Combo- made of real wood- I have been looking for one that we could afford since I was five months pregnant-Dirk is 11 months old- I may have done a happy dance, while hugging the Mom, and yelling over my shoulder for Gabe to go grab the Prius.  It is GORGEOUS.  I painted it, yes already.  With a can of paint that I got from the mis-matched pile at Ace for $2.50.  So the grand total for this baby was $27.50…. Retails for $425 = BOOM.  Not even a scratch on her too.  AHHHH bliss.  There should be some proverb here about those that are patient… BUT I am just SO EXCITED that we have one.  Seriously- Dirk grew so fast, so quick, my back would have loved me so much if I didn’t have to put him on the ground.every.single.time. I changed him. <3
  5. Rabbit ears to get HD channels 50 cents- works really well- we don’t have cable so this enables us to watch about 10 channels in full HD.
  6. Digital Thermostat $1- COMPLETE BUST- Gabe was so excited about it… this little side adventure led us to crawl up in the attic- I had a bout of fiberglass in my hands- and shocked myself a bit(Gabe claimed the electricity was off, mmmmhhmmmmm) after the heat was on non-stop- yep it was 80 degrees outside and the Thermostat thought we needed to be a little toastier.  Then we short circuited one of the fuses…. at which point we were pulling our hair out, literally.  Thankfully there is a handyman that lives down the street and he came over the next day and fixed everything… even our bum sliding glass door.  There are no digital thermostats in our future for the time being.
  7. Christmas Tree Skirt- handmade- 50 cents- it was lovely and we don’t own one- win-win.
  8. Koala- Baby Koala bought from a very cute kid $1
  9. Kids Plastic Golf Set- 50 cents
  10. Large Solid Oak Mirror $1

And there you have it folks- our Hunting Expedition was quite successful.  Quite successful, indeed.
