Preparation for Cold & Flu Season{Med Kit}

Nuby Medical Kit

I believe it is always necessary to be prepared for everything as a mom to two young, active toddlers.  This kit ensures that you are ready for almost any flu or cold that inevitably comes your way throughout the year!  I keep a medical kit in both of our cars, medicine is located upstairs and downstairs(benedryl is always around for my food allergy toddler) and this kit is in our coffee cupboard.  The nose aspirator is one of our go-to favorites when cold season hits.  We wash our hands all the time but we also don’t miss a chance for Toddler Time at our community center, the park, and local events clad with kids…. where all the awesome germs hang out.  And kids? They touch EVERYTHING.

Needlesstosay we have our share of colds.  Summer colds? Oh yes, even those.  The Children’s Museum is a smorgasbord of fun AND snotty nosed kids.  Does that make us stop going? Of course not.  We do the best we can and this kit is there for us when we need it.

Thankfully we have yet to use the Burnjel or Liquid Skin with either of our two toddler’s but you just never know when you will need it.

Band-aids are only used if completely necessary and we try not to have them wear them if they are going to sleep for nap or night time due to the choking hazard.

Disneyland or Bust

The Toddler couldn’t stop smiling during the character breakfast.  Oh to see the world through his eyes for a day.

Em gave kisses and coy waves to all of the characters throughout the day-then she would hide away and peek back at them with this cute little grin.

For breakfast we resvered our spot online two weeks prior and were able to send in the list of food allergies for The Toddler.  The Head Chef came to our table personally to make his dish and discuss what he would like to eat.  HE was so darn happy with his Mickey waffles. SO HAPPY.

She may be small, but she ate her weight in food at each stop. So thankful that she is free until she is three!

Captain Hook scared the crap out of The Toddler. Like shuddering fear. Pure fear.  That smile is quite creepy in real life- I don’t blame him one bit.

Family Photo with the Mickey statue and castle.

The TIKI’S. These fearsome masks were scary and hilarious… The Toddler just couldn’t figure out which.

Double stroller for the win!  We even left this beauty by The Haunted Mansion to go on a train trip around the park.

When in doubt? See Darth Vadar.  The Jedi Show was a showstopper for The Toddler and Em.  We watched it twice.  Both times The Toddler got to high-five and fist pump a storm trooper- we made dreams come true on this glorious day. Dreams come true!

Naps on the go!

We ate at a breakfast buffet, brought lunch with us and snacks, and a dinner buffet. Best money we spent by far! PLUS? Both kids were free because they were two and under! Em ate four chicken legs, three ears of corn, and a bowl of beans.  The Toddler had two chicken breasts, six ears of corn, and a bowl of beans. AND thankfully- unlike at breakfast when we were on camera patrol-both the hubby and I were able to eat.  That BBQ was the best I have had in a long, long, long time. Plus the music and scenery were relaxing after a fast-paced day.  Just what we needed!

My favorite picture of them.

Dinner wears a toddler out. Superhero shirt for the win!

Em was able to explore the castle and see some of the princesses as The Toddler snoozed.

Starbucks IN Disneyland? Just what I needed after twelve hours hitting the pavement.  Sweet cuddles courtesy of Em.

The Toddler seeing fireworks for the first time? PRICELESS.
At Disney everything is magical… even the tram ride back to the car.

Our trip to Disneyland was everything that I had hoped for and more!

Our day was full of giggles, gasps, and goofy characters!

The past two months have gone by far too fast. I plan on posting about our tips, tricks, and planning wins that helped keep our trip tears free.  No tantrums in Disney? Completely possible!

Family Cake Smash: Em Turns One

Sweet Em loved hearing us sing “Happy Birthday” again on her birthday weekend with just family.  She relished in trying to blow out the candle with The Toddler.  So thankful that we are starting off her first year with everyone healthy!

Blessed.

Waiting to Exhale

The past few months have been full of stress. I have stayed up countless nights.

I cried.
I fell apart.
I kept it hidden.

Shielding my two little ones from the reality of what was going on was essential in my mind.  They were two and nearly one- clearly they were not going to understand why Mom was so upset about health concerns.

I am DONE. Done putting on a brave face and pretending that everything is fine.

WHY?

We are HEALTHY.

HEALTHY. HEALTHY. HEALTHY.

For the past few months cancer has been thrown around too many times.  The what ifs of surgery for both EM and I have plagued my mind and taken away my couple precious hours of sleep.

No more.

Yesterday we went in for Em’s second phase of heart testing.  After extensive tests we found out(same day) that her tendons are growing back normally and that her hole in her heart is closing ever so slowly.

Progress.

I just kept waiting for him to say BUT….

He didn’t.  She doesn’t need surgery and we don’t have to go back in until she is two.

There it is.

We are healthy.  I slept through the night for the first time in six months. Bliss.

This morning we celebrated our health with an hour bike ride, getting messy at the park, puddle splashing in flooded sidewalks, sand turtle digging, and masterpieces made of chalk.  I made a conscious effort to take a step back and think about how lucky we are.

We have everything we need, everyone is happy, AND we are all healthy!

I can breathe again.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the messages, emails, and prayers.  Your support of our little family and this little blog means more to me than you will ever know.

Thank you.
