Mother’s Day Tea in the Backyard

A Mother’s Day Tea Party in the backyard is exactly what I am planning for this year!  Tons of small, sugary delicious bites to eat, and plenty of tea (and non-caffeinated options) to go around.  Break out the tea cups and floral dresses-it’s time for a fun backyard celebration.

I love the thought of everyone bringing a tea set or two that they’ve loved or thrifted to exchange and bring home a new one to cherish.  I will set up a small table to display the ornate collection near the beverage bar.  You can not have a Tea Party without PLENTY of tasty beverages.  Our weather heats up fast so I will double brew the tea and then let it cool to room temperature, before placing it in a glass to store in the fridge.  Double-brewing is KEY for making a fabulous iced-tea out here in the desert.  Of course I know that some of us prefer our caffeine to be in a coffee creation so I will be prepping a couple quarts of The Best Cold Brew Iced Coffee. Hands-down-the best.

Tea & Crumpets

Honestly, I can not wait to make some Sweet Pink Treats– they are so photogenic and more importantly-delicious. Of course a plain tower of Rice Crispies cut into squares, some finger sandwiches, and of course cookies will need to be served.

The backyard is going to be on display as I will be pulling out the tables and all of our chairs for our Mother’s Day Tea Party.  Thankful that a little prep with Scotts® Turf Builder® Weed & Feed our backyard is turning into a lush oasis.

I grabbed the Weed & Feed at my local Walmart while picking up some school supplies. This product will cover up to 5,000 square ft. Helps you rid your lawn of the weeds you see and thicken your grass to crowd out the ones you don’t!

I already own a Scotts spreader and gloves(they are a MUST) and was able to quickly get to work prepping the lawn.  Definitely loved how simple the directions were to follow-please read the directions! I cut a hole in the corner and poured the seed in(all while properly gloved-safety first) and went about my way.

Do Not Miss These Moments

Time goes by at an increasingly, alarmingly type pace.  As a mother I find myself constantly wanting to keep these memories of our every day moments forever.  I do not want to miss these moments.  Even though motherhood has taken it’s toll on my body I choose to not sit back and just watch my life pass by.  I am a participant in my life.

Do Not Miss These Moments

Every day I get the wonderful blessing of starting the day anew with my two darlings.  I don’t have time to worry about moments that could be ruined with common problems-I gave birth to two kids-my body is DIFFERENT and that is okay.  I wouldn’t change a thing.

Do Not Miss These Moments

I am stronger than my circumstances.  I choose to be happy. Being happy is a choice and one that I make daily as I get up and turn the coffee maker on, before the house stirs, and the day starts.

I know I am not the only mother who has to think twice about running… about jumping… about playing Hot LAVA Monster.  But I choose to do so as I know I will never get this time back.

Life is too short.

Do Not Miss These Moments

So I WILL jump.  I WILL run. AND I WILL play as many games of Hot LAVA Monster as I can.  After my breast cancer scare last year, you really just never know how much time you have left with those you love.  And that? That put life into perspective, fast.  So here I am… in my Poise Thin Shape Pad from my local Kroger store.

I wanted to prove how hardly noticeable even in these PINK Athleta Leggings they were… it matters to me.  And you would’ve never caught me in a light colored athlesiure outfit(it’s a thing) after motherhood because, well, things happen after kids.

I kept trying to get the jump… you know the one… the one those awesomely athletic people can do that looks PERFECT.

Do Not Miss These Moments

Well, life has a resounding way of letting you know that sometimes you just aren’t going to get that shot.

TADA

Well, I can run, jump, and Hot LAVA Monster chase with the best of them.  Even better?  I can now wear these bad boys without the fear of an OOPS.  Hot Pink for the WIN!

What is one thing that makes you happy?

I mean, I make a good Hot LAVA Monster-so I am pretty proud about how happy I make my kids when I bring out the LAVA.

Family Pizza Night after Soccer

For as long as I can remember pizza quickly followed soccer.  After a soccer tournament the team would all celebrate with a pizza night.  After finishing a soccer season we would all celebrate with pizza and an award’s banquet.

Soccer & Pizza

They go together like peanut butter & jelly… or so I hear.  Was never one for that combination and now that Raymond is deadly allergic I don’t keep any of it in the house.  But seriously, Soccer & Pizza.

Family Pizza Night After Soccer

Growing up we would always, always grab a big pizza to eat out as our first meal when camping.  I guess you can say pizza is definitely a part of some of my favorite family memories while growing up.  It’s always nice to go to bed the first night camping with a belly full of deliciousness… AND for the parents-after setting up the ENTIRE campsite you just don’t want to cook-I get it now.

I grabbed THREE Red Baron Pizza’s after Raymond’s last game of the season.  We were all set to go to his team’s pizza party, but then got the call that Emma Marie had pneumonia.  Plans change and we celebrated our OWN pizza party at home.  Raymond loved that he still got to enjoy some pizza- cheese & pepperoni– definitely a tie for his favorite right now.

I am thankful that at four he understood that Em needed to rest. That sweet heart.

Loved that we were able to sit around the table and talk about our favorite things about the day.  Loved that Emma Marie was able to get the extra snuggles she needed.  Loved that Raymond knew what was MOST important, family.

May life for him always be this happy.  May he always try his best and cheer on his teammates with such ferocity.  May he always understand that it’s more important to be kind, than to win.

Life’s short.

Kindness matters.
