Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Or so I am told. Coffee is a meal to me-but hey- I am not a health professional nor do I pretend to be one…
I do know that if I eat a protein packed breakfast that I definitely have the energy to keep up on my two do list-along with making sure the munchkins and I get to our daily adventures. Check out below for two of my new favorite ways to get an added protein kick, that is healthy AND delicious.
Hemp Seeds & Stonyfield Yogurt
I can easily scoop up some delicious yogurt and sprinkle in some shelled hemp seeds in the morning. Meal time around the table is important to me and this takes LITTLE thought or preparation-obviously a mom win.
Stonyfield Smooth & Creamy Vanilla Yogurt & Navitas Naturals Hemp Seeds
I tend to eat it with Vanilla Yogurt- just a tad sweeter and the same kick of natural goodness. The Hemp Seeds contain magnesium, omega fatty acids, and 5 grams of protein per serving.
Stonyfield Yogurt & Mulberry Berries
I LOVE this superfruit! Fabulous amounts of dietary fiber, iron, and vitamin C-along with resveratrol, the powerful antioxidant also found in red wine. WINNING.
But really. So delicious.
Stonyfield Smooth & Creamy Whole Milk Yogurt & Navitas Naturals Mulberry Berries
I love that both options are healthy and that my non-caffeinated head can easily pour and stir to create a fast enough breakfast I get to join the kids at the table.
What is your go-to breakfast?
I don’t own a blender otherwise I would LOVE to play with these mixings and figure out a killer recipe.
Thank you to Stonyfield for sponsoring this post. As always all opinions are 100% my own.

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, water was a way of life. My family spent most of our time outside and loved getting on the water whenever possible. My fondest memories are surrounded by water- camping on the lake, camping on the sound, and boating out at my Uncle’s Beach House.
Being ONE with Nature
I learned how to water ski at the ripe old age of three. My mother was an avid swimmer and water-sports aficionado. She could do the awesome water-ski drop and then ski with just one ski (back before wake-boarding was a thing). My grandfather who was a principal at the local High School would take a week of the school year for activities that the students didn’t normally get to pursue. He would take groups out on his boat, the B’s Hive, and teach them how to take care of a boat and water ski. He never learned how to swim which is a marvel as he was a fabulous water skier.
When he was just a child and his father abandoned his mother and younger siblings a huge forest fire broke out and surrounded their rural farm. He put his family in a row boat and waded out into the middle of a lake as the entire forest was engulfed around them. He couldn’t swim, yet he maintained his composure and saved his family. What a role model to grow up with.
Searching for Jellyfish
Please do not try this at home. As Pacific Northwest natives we knew what we were doing. And YES, I have been stung by one of the dangerous ones and NO peeing on it didn’t make it better. Vinegar was poured on and my entire leg felt like it was on FIRE. Needless to say I ran around like I was on fire for longer than I care to share.
Castle with Moat
You haven’t truly lived until you try to tempt the tide and make your own fortress of solitude.
It’s hilarious fun.
Now that the kids are getting older I want to be able to provide the same opportunities for adventures with nature. I would love to take them boating and honestly, I bet Emma would love to water ski at three, like mom. She is my little spitfire.
Check out this amazing resource for finding boats that fit any family’s needs-

Happy National Brown Bag Lunch Day friends! Today I am sharing two different takes on a fabulous brown bag friendly lunch idea. Check out this healthy option and please share your favorite brown bag lunch ideas below!
Classic Sandwich with a Twist
Baked Pita Chips
Can of Lemonade
I grabbed all of the ingredients for this spice of life sandwich at my neighborhood Fry’s. I love that the prices are ALWAYS better and therefore I can get more food for my family. Plus Fry’s recently added a Fresh Fruit Cart in their produce section where you are encouraged to grab a banana or apple for your little ones to eat while shopping.
The first time I saw the sign I legitimately started crying. Both of my kids were able to eat a banana and drive in the Car Cart (their must have) while I shopped for our weekly grocery necessities. Kindness matters and on that particular day the kindness that Fry’s showed with the simple gesture of a single banana MADE MY DAY.
Slice cheese, pear, and add fresh pepperoni to your favorite bread… I never add condiments while packing brown bag lunches-no one likes a soggy sandwich- NO ONE. Much easier to have a stash of the mini condiments from restaurants or a full size one that you keep at your office for maintaining the bread’s sturdy composition.
I love to add pita chips as a side and mix a can of lemonade with two frozen lemon slices in my Swell bottle-that way the drink stays icy fresh for 8+ hours which means come lunchtime my lemonade will still be exactly the way I made it at 6AM. Winning.
Icy Cold Lemonade
If you are one of the LUCKY ones who has access to an appliance that can toast then the next recipe is for you.
Bread of Choice
Slice the cheese, pair, and bread to create an easy to replicate recipe at the office. Simply bring a jar of fresh pesto to add to the ingredients and SAFELY toast the bread, cheese, and pesto. Add the pear and VOILA brown bag lunch taken to the next level. Doesn’t hurt that it makes the office smell divine.
Delicious & EASY
Now that I’ve shared two of my FAVORITE brown bag lunch ideas I would love to hear about your go-to recipes!
Please share a recipe (or TWO!) that are brown bag lunch approved.
Thank you to Fry’s Food for partnering with me on this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are always 100% my own.

A weekly staple in the meal plan is our favorite hearty AND healthy pasta dinner that is both mom and kid-approved. Grab some gluten-free, egg-free noodles, your favorite sauce, and throw in some spicy bell peppers-and VOILA- the plates will be clean when they hit the kitchen sink. Check out this easy, healthy recipe and leave me one of your favorites in the comments!
Ragu Homestyle- Thick & Hearty Roasted Garlic
-Assorted Bell Peppers(yellow, red, and orange are our favorite)
-Cook noodles according to box- LOTS of allergy-friendly pasta needs different time limits and added extras-read the box.
-While the pasta is cooking- grate the cheese, cut the bell peppers, and heat the sauce(if you like HOT sauce).
-Combine all ingredients and enjoy!
Healthy Pasta Dinner Recipe
This is our thickest sauce– you can tell because it hugs the pasta.
This is our boldest flavor yet because we peel, chop and simmer our ingredients and use a special blend of herbs (basil, fennel, oregano and black pepper) to layer and build the flavor.
We don’t use artificial flavors, artificial colors or high fructose corn syrup.
You don’t take short cuts when you make your own sauce–neither do we. That’s why we take the time to make sure the sauce is made right.

What is your favorite healthy pasta dinner recipe?
Would LOVE to add another couple to our running meal-planning rotation!

As a parent my one main goal is to make memories. Messes make memories. Every day we get out in the weather and splash, run, slide, jump, and live in the moment. Life is too short to miss out on these simple, daily joys.
Our adventures, no matter how simple, always involve squeals of joy and the need for a TON of laundry. Laundry is inevitable. Laughter is not.

Guess who SINGS while she runs. This is the epitome of joy. I am so very happy that her personality is getting back to normal. In no time at all she will be back to being my little spitfire.
Get outside- create those memories that will stay with you forever. The simple, messy ones.
