Dirty Girl Mud Run 2013

A big thanks goes out to East Valley Women’s Blog for my entry!!!
On Saturday we set our alarm for 6AM.  Got the kids up, dressed and on the road for our trip up north to Scottsdale!  Took about an hour to get up to the race and our little one’s were troopers for how early it was.
We parked easily enough and navigated the double stroller through the dirt fields over to registration.  There were so many tents set up and everything was clearly marked.
I registered, received my swag bag with my t-shirt and then headed over to get pins to put my numbers on.  On my registration card-there was a beer ticket-YUM-and a tab to remove to be able to store a bag of goodies for after you finish-like clean clothes, cell phone, essentials.  Since the Hubby and little ones were my cheering squad I just shoved two towels and a change of clothes under the stroller. FYI: Bring another pair of shoes!
At the end of the race you can donate your shoes to a charity that will clean them up and give them to someone in need-talk about awesome!  After my second pregnancy I have come to terms with the fact that my feet are now easily a half-size bigger.  So I went through my running shoes and found two pairs of Nike’s that were way too tight.  At the beginning of the race I donated those and kept my dirty pair of sneakers-to clean up-because they are the only ones that fit now.
Hoarding nice shoes over the years proved to be fruitless.

Best cheerleaders on the course!  The Hubby actually ran from obstacle to obstacle to cheer and take pictures!  The Toddler clapped and yelled, “Hi Mom!” as I ran(jogged) by…
Dirty Girl is a 5k womens only run for women of all ages and athletic abilities. Don’t worry, it’s not a “race” in the traditional sense.
It is an untimed obstacle course designed to push you slightly out of your comfort zone, but only as far as you are comfortable going. Forming teams is encouraged, and so is helping your fellow Dirty Girls get through to the finish. At a Dirty Girl Mud Run you’ll find excitement, laughter, and camaraderie—as well as lots of music and even some adult beverages. It’s a day you’ll never forget.
This was a monstrosity!
My whole goal was to get through the football course and make it to the pyramid first so that I could go up as fast/slow as I wanted…. some of the inflatables had weight limits and you had to wait to complete the obstacle-not a big deal at all-waiting helped catch my breath-and frankly I only ever had to wait at the huge dunk tank obstacle-but I knew my family was on the other side and I wanted to see what this 3 month postpartum body could do!  That’s me on the top right making my way down… you could hear me scream-laughing for miles-contends the Hubby.
Running after a mud pit…
The massive structure you climbed and then slid down.  The rough texture of the slide made me think I wasn’t going to go that fast…

I lost my stomach-slid so fast my mouth was open from screaming-as were my eyes… A TON OF MUDDY FUN.  All I kept saying was, “It’s in my mouth…IT’S IN MY MOUTH!”. Again, a scream heard around the town-a happy scream-but a scream nonetheless!
Mud Tunnel-note to self-wear capris for easier crawling…
There were 12 obstacles- mud pits, humongous cargo nets, slides, walls, spider nets… I haven’t had that much fun running and working out in AGES.  The best part is that anyone and everyone can do the event!  It isn’t timed-is completely for fun-and there are detours if an obstacle doesn’t look like your cup of tea!  I can’t wait until next years event!
November 15th in Phoenix! I am already signed up!  This next year I plan on running with a group of my best friends… it is a really fun “team” event.  There were teams of Wonder Women, Super Heroes, even some wearing their prom dresses!

All cleaned up and ready to head home!

Goodtimes & even better memories!  Dirty Girl 2014? You BET!

GooseSwaddle: Lovable-Luxurious Baby Blankets Review & Giveaway

GooseWaddle: Premium Luxury Blankets

True to their name-these blankets are just as soft(perhaps softer) than they look!

Aside from a mother’s arms, what’s the coziest experience a baby can enjoy? The truly lovable luxury of GooseWaddle. GooseWaddle is an extraordinary new line of ultra-high-quality blankets. Exquisitely soft and oh-so-comfy, our premium blankets are thoughtfully designed and superbly crafted using the finest materials. Available in classic colors and in full-sized blanket or lovable “blankie” size. Treat your newborn or toddler to a whole new level of comfort—with GooseWaddle. When you put as much care into a product as we have, the smiles just naturally follow.

Sweet Em fell asleep all cuddled up.

GooseWaddle blankets come in classic Pink, White, and Blue. The full size receiving blanket is 29” x 35”. The smaller security “blankie” is 14” x 14”.

When I was little-my favorite blanket had a satin lining-to which I always rolled the fabric through my hands when I went to sleep at night…so many years ago(who’s counting?) but I still remember the calming effect of the smooth fabric.  I watch my little Em- who at three months old is just beginning to explore the world around her-and I see so many similarities!

She clutches on tight to the lining-brushes the velvety-soft fabric against her cheeks and rolls her thumbs over the satin lining! I love that I can give her a little piece of comfort- especially in the car.

Goodness gracious does Em hate being in the car.  We have tried everything-AND I MEAN EVERYTHING- to help her cope with being stuck in the car seat to no avail.  Until now- and I mean that in all honesty- the little security blanket made a long trip to the doctor do-able.  No screaming-sobbing-hyperventilating three month old in the backseat.  The Toddler is thankful.  I am thankful.

This little guy is ADORABLE. He needs a name… I’ll call him Waddlesworth.

Social Responsibility at it’s finest!

GooseWaddle Buy 1, Give 1 Program:

buy1get1Our desire to be a socially conscious brand (as part of The P&A Group family of socially responsible brands) inspired the Buy1Give1 Program. In conjunction with the product launch, GooseWaddle is announcing a “Buy 1, Give 1” campaign that seeks to meet the needs of mothers and children in orphanages, hospitals, government programs and other organizations by donating a receiving blanket for every GooseWaddle blanket sold.

I love to support companies that invest in our communities!  Every purchase helps.  You get affordable luxury and a blanket gets donated to someone truly in need.  Win-Win.

Team Pink!

Happy Baby? Happy Mom!

I can’t say enough good things about this company.  Quality products.  Cuddly-soft baby blankets.  Socially responsible. Exactly what this picky mom looks for when investing in products for my children.  Ms. Em sure is one lucky little lady to be able to have the blankie in the car-and the stroller-thank the stars this helps-and the larger blanket for tummy time and cuddle sessions!

The Toddler thought the packaging was hilarious!

Not pictured-on the side of the box it says “IT’S FUN TO FEEL LOVED.”

I agree wholeheartedly.

Perhaps my new little niece arriving this Christmas should have the blanket set…

Perfect gift for a little one-especially one that is so far away!

Pumpkin Carving

Three medium pumpkins produced the most seeds I have ever seen.  LITERALLY.  And The Toddler and I ate all of them in less than five hours. YUM.

Thankfully he takes after me and he isn’t afraid of a little pumpkin slime.  He even ate some seeds raw…. NOM NOM NOM

Mom’s Little Helper

The Hubby carved both creations.  He even made sure to match D’s favorite shirt!  ADORABLE.

LOVE family traditions.  And pumpkin seeds.

Happy Halloween 2013

Cranky Little Skeletons in the morning.  Rough Morning.
We geared up for a better night with watching Monster University!  The Toddler is Sully for Halloween-with sweet Em as Mike.  The Toddler undoubtedly LOVED the movie and especially LOVED there costumes!

We all sported glow sticks for the evening.  The Toddler enjoyed this part of “getting” ready immensely.

My little man.

Sully & Mike

Monsters for Life!

Halloween was fantastic!  We are really lucky to live in such a family-friendly neighborhood!  All of our neighbors were so sweet and caring.  The Toddler loved saying “hi” and “bye” to everyone-plus knocking on the door was a real treat!  We paid our respects to all of the lit pumpkins and the squeals of delight could be heard a block away!  Such a happy camper!  Em was on the Hubby’s chest(baby wearing for the win) and we used an umbrella stroller to navigate our large neighborhood…. some houses are really far apart in places.  Proud of our little munchkins-er-monsters.
