Big Boy Haircut

As a new mom I thought for sure that I would be cutting The Toddler’s hair when he turned one. And when I mean cut, I mean buzz-cut.  Fast-forward to his first birthday and he didn’t even need a trim!  A month later I finally took some hair-cutting scissors out and trimmed a half-inch off the back.

Over the next couple of months I trimmed his hair-of which he would have the biggest fit you can imagine.  He is petrified of scissors.  Not that he has ever had a bad incident with one.  He just knows that he hates them.  Like a dog that hates the vacuum.  An innate sense that its just evil.  Hilarious and incredibly sad folks.

I had to laugh a little to myself for making my toddler think that he was dying for those two minutes I cut his hair… seriously two minutes of the loudest, gut-wrenching cries known to mankind.  Sheer terror.  Pun unintended.  Happy coincidence.

As I look back, the past three months have been full of bad hair days.  He loathes to clippers.  I am reluctant to buzz-cut… I really don’t think many people look good with that short of a cut.  And finally, after a really bad sick day-one that I made the husband stay home for-I sent both boys off to get hair cuts.  Apparently,  it didn’t go too well because when The Toddler returned his hair was untouched.  At least I am not the only one that has a hard time cutting his hair?

So I make an appointment to a local kid’s haircut shop.  The lady owns it and has two lovely women that cute hair with her.  The Toddler was overjoyed to see that he was going to sit in a red sports car, watch Scooby Doo, hold toys, and not have to wear a plastic cape.  Goodness does he loathe those plastic capes.

So here is our little boy… and his adventure with his first big-boy haircut!

I am happy to say that we will be frequenting that salon!  The woman pictured is the owner and was so sweet and patient with our little man.  So glad that we were able to have a pain-free, tear-free experience!

Bright Starts Springin’ Safari Bounce-A-Round Review

 Em’s Glorious New Addition

Bright Starts Springin’ Safari Bounce-A-Round

This lovely bundle of joy arrived at our door.  Yes- I mean that.

The Toddler was all too happy to join in on the building of the Bounce-A-Round which made set-up harder, not impossible, but infinitely harder. Of course I could have been smart about it and waited for nap time to put this beauty together… but I was too darn excited.  Plus, he really does try to “help” me with anything and everything during the day and watching him listen to me as we put together Em’s activity center was priceless.

All packages are clearly labeled-obviously someone knew what they were doing-and set-up was headache free.

The only tool I needed was a screwdriver and some good ole fashioned hand strength!  Please note that I have arthritis-at 29 no less-but was still able to man-handle all of the pieces together with only the assistance of my little man.  He didn’t actually put anything together-but he did help arrange the toys and pieces on the floor and handed me each piece as I went through the instructions.

Oh yes.  The instruction book.  I have put together many, many toys over the past couple of years. So I believe I can truly appreciate a simple-step-by-step instruction book with plenty of helpful pictures.  The little things in life people. Little things.

I did not have to call-but I like the fact that they take care of their customers.

Em started in the Springin’ Safari Bounce-A-Round when she was just four months old!  FOUR MONTHS.  I was hesitant, although Bright Starts states that this product is for 4+ Months, and she LOVED it.  LOVED.

Taken right after The Toddler and I put the activity center together.  The Toddler is leaning in to kiss her head.  Such a sweetheart.

I was singing. I was not in choir if you know what I mean.  But I had to partake in a happy dance, sing off after putting this baby together.  She was not amused.

BUT… at just four months old she was able to play with all of the toys by herself.  She could not pivot at that time nor push the lion down but all of the other 12+ activities were immediately available for her enjoyment.

You see that green base?  It acts as a sort of trampoline-adorable-just enough bounce at this age.  I am sure when she gets a better hang of “standing” the real jumping will occur.

That butterfly is one of our many Bright Starts toys that we have in our arsenal.  I love being able to switch-up one of the toys whenever I want to!

After two weeks of exploring this toy Em is getting more adventurous with her surroundings…. at four and a half months she can pivot around AND use all of the activities available.  I love watching her learn and explore.

I can not say enough good things about this activity center.  There are A LOT of them on the market.  The Bright Starts Springin’ Safari Bounce-A-Round is high-quality, features multiple textures and can literally GROW with my child as she gets bigger, stronger, AND wiser.  I whole-heartedly give my stamp of approval on this.  If you do not own an activity center go out and get this one-right now.  HERE.

The Springin’ Safari Bounce-A-Round from Bright Starts provides 360° of activities and bouncing action to keep baby entertained while playing.

More than just a bouncer, the Springin’ Safari Bounce-A-Round seat rotates so baby can play with the interactive toys all around. Whimsical characters and toys located on the activity tray encourage baby to bend, reach, rattle, spin, pop, and grip! When little ones grow, the seat can be adjusted to 3 different height positions to ensure comfort. A washable seat pad makes cleanup easy.

  • 12+ activities include interactive toys and cute characters
  • Unique bounce pad for playtime fun
  • Adjustable seat height positions allow to grow with baby
  • Seat rotates 360° for non-stop interaction with fun activity stations
  • Lays flat for storage
  • Built-in storage tray is easy to clean
  • Machine washable seat pad

Our Little Family Update

Family Car Wash

Little One ZZZ

The Prius- The Purple Monster-and The Dump Truck got washed and dried.

My little, teething cuddle monster.

Sitting in the parking lot(hence the lack of seat belt) after a night at the park- enjoying his first vanilla shake.

Tuesday Zoo Days with our little family.

Snuggles and nap time in the Ergo.

The past couple of weeks have blown by.  I feel like I am in a daze-fog really- and can not for the life of me figure out why I am having such a hard time sitting down and writing at night.  Perhaps, it is the first time I am sitting down.  Perhaps, it is because unlike all of the antibiotics that have ran their course through my body- I can not get healthy.  I blame being perpetually tired.  So tired.  I mean if Em would take a bottle I could get a break.  But she doesn’t and I don’t.

Whine. Whine. Whine.

I am thankful that she latched.  Someday I will sit down and write about how incredibly different my experiences AND feelings with breastfeeding, pumping, and formula feeding are.  But until then?  I will go forth in my daze.

We are getting out of the house and going to activities every day of the week.  Living up this cooler weather before the lows are in the 90s and we are stuck inside for five months.  Winter passed us right on by this year.  Hoping that doesn’t mean that the summer will arrive early.  May is usually when triple digits hit.

On a heart health update: I am wearing an A-Fib heart monitor for the next 30 days to see if we can finally figure out what is so darn wrong with my ticker. Lucky that our insurance-after rejecting the claim- took back their decision.  Day One is over. Both kids are terrified by the beeping monitor.  Goodtimes.  Especially when putting Em down for her nap. Goodtimes.

Tomorrow I am hoping to take some five month photos of Em- that is the goal- but things come up-outside is to be explored-games played.

Thanks for hanging in there as I navigate this rough start to the new year!  I appreciate each and every one of you!
