Munchkin Meals: Baby & Toddler

Time for another Munchkin Meals thanks to Brittany over at A Healthy Slice of Life! On the first Thursday of every month she hosts a Munchkin Meals Link-Up Party- which enables me to look through tons of great meal ideas to change things up with my Toddler and now our sweet baby girl.

Sitting proud in his Nuby Booster Seat.  Loves being up at “our” level.

This is one of our weekly staples that I wanted to showcase.  Homemade burrito bowls!

I make a large batch of rice with cilantro, add in ground turkey with spices(or ground chicken), corn and depending on the day a mix of black and pinto beans.  We always offer at least one green vegetable with every lunch and dinner.

What we typically go through in a week for his meals?

1-2 lbs of Chicken(ground or grilled)
1-2 lbs Turkey(sliced)
4 Cans of Beans
6-7 Bananas
2 Cucumbers
3 Green Peppers
1 Zucchini
A batch of fresh-in season fruit
1/2 Box of Rice Chex
2 Gallons of Milk
Box of Rice Mac & Cheese
Box of Scooby Snacks- Gluten/Egg/Nut Free snacks from Whole Foods-lovingly called Scooby Snacks
1 Bag of Popcorn
Large Bag of Homemade Mix: Dried Apricots, Blueberries, Raisins, Coconut, Rice Chex

Depending on what is on sale we will get some treats like frozen yogurt, pudding, or ice cream- of course all allergy-free.  Love making sure he gets a sweet treat every now and then!

Allergy-Free Cookies- a sweet treat indeed! He LOVED helping me make them-especially testing if they were ready or not!

Blurry MESS

Pureed Goodness: Pears, Bananas+Apples+Pears, Banana+Plum+Grape, Sweet Potato, Carrots.

All of the pureed Baby Food is with a mixture of brown rice.  I make a weeks worth of food every Sunday afternoon.  Our little girl will go through all of this, plus some finger foods and her favorite snacks: Mum Mums in one week.  She is still exclusively breast-fed and we are working religiously on trying to have her take a bottle.  At this point I am actually gaining more ground with a sippy cup full of cold water.  The temps get in the 120s here in the summer and I would love to be able to supplement some water in during the day so that she doesn’t get dehydrated.

Swinging in the Sunshine

Thank you Brittany for continuing this tradition! I LOVE the Munchkin Meals Link-up!
