Our Little One’s Nursery

Baby Girl’s Sprinkle

Our Baby Girl certainly is blessed to have such lovely women in her life already!  My dear friends hosted a Sprinkle last weekend and I enjoyed every single moment with them!

The invitations were ADORABLE- and had little “sprinkles” that fell out when you opened up the card : ).

A couple of days before the event I received a package and low and behold there was a note with this BEAUTIFUL(and comfy-so key right now) dress- seriously… how can I be so lucky?!? My friends really do know how to pamper!

Our Little One is going to be one well-dressed lady! She has an amazing array of outfits for me to choose from!!! Even those out of town sent packages to Aunt Tina for our Baby Girl.  One lucky little lady!

During the Sprinkle there was even a small craft session where they finished up a project they were working on…. In the background you can see the champagne flutes that held a signature drink-complete with purple straws(my favorite color), melt in your mouth cupcakes with decorated plates and more adorable baby decorations!

VOILA! This my dear readers can not be found on Pinterest-this creation was thought up by my dear friend Becca- here she is holding her masterpiece! It is hanging in our Little One’s nursery as we speak. I may or may not have cried a couple of times so far as I walk into her room when I see that hanging in the corner- all of Little One’s “Aunts” are quite thoughtful and special.

This is from The Toddler’s Baby Shower- check out that decor in the background- yes my friends made that for our family too- just wanted to show you how darn thoughtful they are!

-September 2011-

To my dear friends,

Thank you so much for being there for me!  I am so glad that we all met Freshman year of college.  You mean more to our family and I than you know.  My children are lucky to have a couple of extra “Aunts” around to look up to.

Nursery Sneak Peek

Big Boy Room Reveal

Photo Montage: Decoration from D’s 1st Birthday
Painting the room took two full nap-times to complete. LOVE the color- so much better than glossy white.

Blocks: Painted the blocks with my assortment of free paint from Ace Hardware.
Jar: Full of rocks that hold dear sentimental value to our family.

Picture: Pompi- D’s Great Grandfather and namesake & our brand new Lorex Video Monitor

Artwork: Provided by D’s sweet Aunt and Uncle from Florida
Yarn Wreath: Decoration from D’s 1st Birthday Celebration

As soon as D moves to his Big Boy Bed we will dismantle the crib and move the glider over to the corner.  I have a craft table that I painted with chalkboard paint that will go up against the wall.

Room Decorations: Birth Announcement and Clive Cussler signed art(where his first name comes from).

Paint Chip Decoration from D’s 1st Birthday Celebration

Blue Bin: from Target
Full of all of D’s stuffed animals- he tries to pry them out when he wakes up from his nap or in the morning.

Comfortor Set: Circo from Target

Ceiling Fan Installed: Harbor Breeze Fan & Light Kit from Lowes

Window Curtain: RE from Target
Blackout Curtain: from Target
White Blinds: Original Furnishings

Re-purposed Oak Glider from Goodwill- As soon as D moves to his Big Bed we will move this to the corner by the window where his crib now stands.
Top Shelf: Decorations fit for a “Bigger” Boy- Baseball/Soccer/Sports Memorabilia
Hanging: An assortment of sweaters, t-shirts and dress shirts size 6T and up(too big for now).
Bottom: Blue bins full of balls, Assortment of Toys and Brown Ottoman full of action figures.  We pull all those out at least twice a day.  The bins and ottoman make clean-up that much easier for me.

Top Shelf: Assortment of Diapers- I tend to stock up whenever Costco has a sale-I prefer their Kirkland Diapers for D at this point.  But Huggies was on sale-cheaper than Kirkland and will suffice.  Now that D is so dang strong(large) he no longer fits into our stash of cloth diapers(this is rare in the cloth diapering world) and we are now using disposables as we work our way through potty training.
Hanging: Current clothes that fit.
Hanging Divider: Toys- an assortment of Pull-Ups that I have been stocking up from samples in the mail- plus toys that we pull out each day.
Bottom: Chalk board- Purple Bin full of clothes the Toddler has outgrown.

My main goal was to make sure that the room could grow with D and that we wouldn’t need to re-paint or re-do the window furnishings, ceiling fan or light fixtures.  The room feels cramped with the queen bed, crib and glider-but that phase will be short so I try not to let it get the best of me.  Nesting made this transition possible!  And boy am I proud of the back breaking work that went into this room reveal!

What do you have or plan to have in your baby’s “Toddler” room transition?   Are you going to move them to a new room?  When did you or when do you plan on moving them to a real bed?

Nursery to BIG Boy Room

Nursery Round 1
June 2011

Before painting.
Father’s Day Surprise 2011

Painting- Before & After- Took 8 hours to finish in a day but I was so darn proud that we at least had one room painted in our glossy white new house.

The start of our book and toy collection.
More added after our baby shower on September 17, 2011.

Added Teal Lamp and Name to the wall.

Antique piece that was in my nursery when I was a baby!

Bedding set was found at the Goodwill- it retails for over $300 and was in new condition.
Installed blackout curtains for light and heat insulation.  Added solid oak glider, also from Goodwill-and my mom made a new slipcover for the pads.
Closet Organization

Round 2
February 2012

Moved glider. Added white noise maker.
Closet reorganization- the top is full of diapers and clothes that he no longer fits into.

Round 3
October 2012

Bought the changing table at a local garage sale and quickly painted the piece a soft muted gray. Even though D was WAY too large at that point to fit on it- I had been searching for years for an affordable option and am so happy with the new piece.

Big Boy Room Round 1

Guest Room Chaos

Moved bed, threw in broken red couch, and a bare boned shelf.

Seriously- why did I keep that couch so long?

Catch all for all of the crap we had no idea where to put.  The husbands old clothes, my teaching files, suitcases….
Big Boy Room Round 2

Star Wars? Yep.

Storage for baby items.

Oak dresser bought from our neighbor. Yoda? Yes. Added silver lamp.  Removed red broken couch and gifted it to an unknown neighbor via the curb(your welcome).
FINAL REVEAL will be next week!
The Big Boy Room has been painted- window treatments added- new bedding- toy bins-closet organization- and adorable wall art.
