Raymond was really excited about being able to stamp with the heart and make heart leaves for our LOVE Tree.

A couple of fun treats and decorations to liven up our tablescape.  The kids gasped when they saw the Valentine’s Day Craft set-up and I knew instantly that my small amount of prep-work made them feel extra special.

Now at four Raymond can do the hand print part all by himself.  I let go of the need for perfection a long time ago and just want my kids to enjoy the art they create. BOY was he truly excited to do it all by himself AND goodness did he have fun.

Making sure that the hand was planted firmly. Needed to reapply another layer of red paint(he chose the color) as he wanted the hand print color to be darker.

Emma chose PURPLE for her LOVE Tree color(no surprise, it is her FAVORITE) and truly just loved smearing all sorts of paint colors on her tree.  She said the leaves were flying in the wind and falling off of her tree.  Love her imagination.

DIY Laundry Update + Freshen Up for the Holidays

Holiday guests will be arriving soon!  Don’t forget to freshen up all of your linens with a dose of Beach Sage which immediately sets the tone for a relaxing holiday with family.  Plus, an easy way to update your laundry room decor with a faux metal sign.

DIY Laundry Update

As much as I would like to “set it and forget it” our laundry room is a focal point of our house.  If the door is opened it can be viewed from the kitchen, dining, AND living room.  This makes me cringe and has led to some small updates that help me cope with our laundry room constantly being opened up with guests.

First off- this is not a catch-all.  Everything has it’s place and those are bins that are NOT see through.  I know where everything is- BUT my guests can’t SEE everything.  Helps the laundry room feel a lot less cluttered with everything hidden in it’s spot.

A long time ago I saw a metal letters- W A S H- in a fabulous magazine delivered around the holidays.  My jaw dropped when I saw the price tag and I had to simply recycle the copy.  They wanted HOW MUCH for each letter?

Not on our budget.

So I simply grabbed cardboard letters at my local thrift store.  Actually I grabbed ONE on each trip over the course of a few months(hello frugal) with their 50% off coupon each time.  One can of metallic spray paint and an old cardboard box to prop them up on and I was all set.

Helpful Hint: Pin tacks into the cardboard so that you can “prop” up the letters before spraying.  That way they will not stick to the cardboard, which makes removal upon drying just that much more simple.

Even if you buy the cardboard letters AND spray paint for full price you still only equate to ONE of the letters from that fabulous magazine.  Another AWESOME thing about being thrifty?  They are cardboard and can be hung up on the wall with double sided tape.  No holes in my wall AND saved a bunch of money.

Three years later and these bad boys now sit on a shelf over both washer and dryer(nothing can fall behind them anymore-winning!) and are in pristine condition.

All of our family will be traveling to the desert this lovely holiday and we are working on refreshing ALL of our linens.  New puppy, a toddler, and preschooler can make you numb to the fact that houses CAN smell good.  Over the past week I have taken the time to wash all of our large quilts and fleece blankets that we cuddle with on the couch.  I am now working on pillows and the kid’s stuffed animals.

Goodness am I in love with the new method 4x concentrated laundry detergent in Beach Sage that I grabbed on our weekly trip to Target.  My nose is picky and this is just the right amount of fragrance to bring upon an heir of tranquility and freshness. PERFECT for the busy holiday season.  Plus I love that I get more bang for my buck. Cough-Cough-Frugal.

The other new fragrances in the lineup for method: beach sage, ginger mango, spring garden.

Grab this fabulous COUPON CODE: YAYFORLAUNDRY for $3 off at checkout!

Let me know if you update your Laundry Room OR perhaps use the technique for a NOEL or JOY sign.  Timeless and easy.

Happy Holidays Friends!

Holiday Craft Party #StickaPic

Thankful for my partnership with HP and MomSelect as they gave me the best reason to get my college girlfriends together!  Life gets busy as a mom and the three of us hadn’t seen each other in MONTHS.  Easily remedied that with a Craft Night with wine, glitter, and printing!  Can’t wait to share how easy it is to print out family memories now!

Holiday Craft Party- HP StickaPic

I LOVE my chalkboard wall as a photo backdrop and will always, always chalk the pertinent hashtag, because? Blogger til I die.

Yes.  Plus the kids use the chalkboard EVERY DAY and it is incredibly easy to clean up.

Chalkboard Photo Props

Chalk pen markers do not work as easily on those as I thought they would…

But they still turned out to be a fun addition to our Craft Party.

Chalkboard Wall

HP Social Media Snapshots- everyone got to bring some home so that they could continue to print out memories and craft their little hearts out.  I find it is easy to fall into the trap of just keeping all of our memories on social media and on the computer instead of taking the time to print them out.  Well, folks-sometimes technology fails and you should(you NEED) to have some hard copies of your favorite pictures.

The kids both squealed when they saw that I updated the fridge with pictures from this fall. Easy and immediately fulfilling.  And now that I am an Instant Ink convert I don’t need to worry about running out of ink.  I literally will never, EVER run out of ink for printing.  Even if I print out FULL pages of 8×10 photos.  I will never run out.

No one ever turns down a rice crispy treat.  They are the ultimate, nostalgic treat of our past that just hit that sweet tooth spot!  I always have some on hand as they are one of the only allergy-friendly treats available for my son.  Mom Win.  Any way you look at it.

There was wine, sangria, bubbly, and cheese pizza.  Just keeping it honest and classy here.  The cheese board was my favorite as I love to indulge in that favorite snack.

Hours of talking AND printing-mixed with tons of glitter pens and loose glitter made for a festive night.  I kept hearing how, “This is SO easy!” and how, “I’ve wanted this picture printed forever!”.  Downloading the app, covering our frames in glitter, and printing out stacks of pictures had us reminiscing about our kids, jobs, and WAY back when in college.

NEW HP Social Media Snapshots

Currently available at Staples, these sticky-backed photo sheets are perfect for printing, display and reliving life’s moments. Not only can you print directly from your smartphone or tablet, but you can decorate your space with your favorite social media photos.

Download HP Social Media Snapshot app, available for free download in iTunes and the Google Play Store.  With the HP Social Media Snapshots app you will be able to print photos directly from your social media channels as well as your camera roll onto specially sized 4×5 inch, sticky-backed photo paper!

As I cleaned up glitter, I am the one that made a massacre of purple… how does it get everywhere?!? I felt like my battery had been recharged.  Sometimes with kids, jobs, and family activities life gets too busy and you find yourself without any ME time.  Craft Night was definitely exactly what this over-tired mom needed.  Missed those women something fierce.

I truly believe that HP Social Media Snapshots, along with the app, have changed the game for me with party planning and events.  I asked HP over a year ago for this type of capability and am so thrilled that we now can have my wireless printer hooked up and print photos LIVE from the photo booth(chalkboard wall) and that my fridge can be updated in the blink of an eye.

What craft would you make with the HP Snapshots?

Please let me know if you have any questions- I have used the app and sticky-paper for over a month and LOVE it.

Follow along with our adventures on Instagram!

Thank you to HP & MomSelect for sending the fabulous box of party supplies and goodies!

Carving Pumpkins: Fall Family Tradition

Will Carve For Seeds

Carving Pumpkins is a family tradition that I have willingly subjected my little family to for years.  Each year there is one member or two that CAN’T stand the slimy pumpkin gunk BUT alas I trudge on.

Memories people!

We are making family memories!

Painting Pumpkins: Fall Family Tradition

Painting Pumpkins: Fall Family Tradition

Raymond painted a pumpkin on his first Halloween and we have carried on the tradition of painting the pumpkins before carving them.  We usually paint them a week before carving so we can enjoy the aura of brilliance said finger painting emits-PLUS after that clean-up I want to enjoy a few days of non-slimy bliss.

Painting Pumpkins: Fall Family Tradition

A week passed after two little skeletons painted their little hearts out.  And now WE CARVE.  Raymond is giving his best impression of a pirate.  I am Barbosa and he is Jack Sparrow typically throughout the day.  My one pirate joke continues to exceed expectations and I easily get laughs each time.  I’m killing it at motherhood. <slow clap>

No, but seriously, learn a joke.  It is priceless.Painting Pumpkins: Fall Family Tradition

Emma Marie cheered loudly as we told them we were carving our painted pumpkins.  She then re-enacted her favorite dinosaur and charged around the room pretending to be a ferocious Tyrannosaurus Rex.  She legitimately sounds terrifying.  If you closed your eyes you would get chills down your spine.

I am beyond thankful she can’t get through the tiny-human-proofing we’ve done as she would most assuredly lose her life if she uttered that awfully, excruciatingly realistic monster noise next to my bed.

Fight or Flight?

I always fight.  It’s a reflex that many, many in the family have lost to.

Carving Pumpkins: Fall Family Tradition

Carving the Top of the Pumpkin

My husband hates, no-LOATHES the feeling of slimy pumpkins.  He will carve the top and then vacuum up the mess after we are done.  He watched from a careful distance on a bar stool this year.

Emma Marie definitely left her shyness from last year behind!  She gladly helped me load up on seeds in our buckets to roast in the afternoon.

Carving Pumpkins: Fall Family Tradition

Raymond was ALL about the raw pumpkin.  I mean literally ALL about the pumpkin.  Definitely need to figure out a way to get more pumpkin into his life.  He can’t have pumpkin pie(food allergies) but perhaps there is another option?

Carving Pumpkins: Fall Family Tradition

Will eat raw seeds… who are we kidding?

Carving Pumpkins: Fall Family Tradition

A trip to Costco rendered another set of pumpkins-these MUCH larger than the pie pumpkins we grabbed at Vertuccio Farms this Fall.  So there will definitely be more seeds in our future!

One of my most favorite parts of Fall is visiting farms and fishing for pumpkin seeds. Yep and sweaters!  Still 90 degrees here three weeks into October.  Bring on the sweaters!

Another item checked off the Fall Bucket List(Free Printable)!

What is a Fall Family Tradition that you partake in?

Any Pumpkin Recipes that may be gluten/nut/egg free?

Would LOVE to find a great recipe to incorporate a new found food love into his diet!  Thank you so much friends!
